The NYPD Desi Society organized its 17th Annual Scholarship & Awards Dinner on April 16, at Northern Boulevard in New York.
The ticketed event was attended by serving NYPD officers from the Desi community and other members of New York’s Finest, along with community and political leaders and other supporters of their service.
The sold-out event featured an awards ceremony to honor the men and women in blue who showed exemplary service. Detective Didarul Islam and Captain Donny Ramoutar were honored posthumously for their service. Captain Ramoutar passed away in 2025 after prolonged 9/11-related health challenges.
The NYPD Desi Society also recognized Captain Sachi G. Singh, the commanding officer of the 100th Precinct, as a “rising star.”
