The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has opened applications for the ‘Cleveland Clinic Global Scholar Award in India,’ a program aimed at early-career cardiologists seeking advanced clinical exposure in the United States. The award includes participation in the ACC Annual Scientific Session and an observership at the Cleveland Clinic, with activities scheduled for April 2027.

The program is designed to promote knowledge exchange among cardiology professionals and strengthen clinical training. Selected awardees will shadow practicing cardiologists and health professionals, observe procedures and surgeries, and attend patient rounds and teaching conferences at Cleveland Clinic.

The ACC will select five early-career cardiologists or cardiac surgeons from India for the award. Eligibility requires applicants to reside and practice in India and have between two and 10 years of experience after completing formal training. Candidates must have completed training no earlier than April 2017 and no later than April 2025. Applicants must also demonstrate proficiency in English, be eligible to obtain a U.S. visa, and be available for the observership in April 2027.

As part of the program, awardees will spend one week attending the ACC Annual Scientific Session in Houston, where they will participate in programming organized by the Early Career Member Section and be recognized at the ACC.27 Convocation ceremony. The remaining three to four weeks will be spent in clinical observership at Cleveland Clinic.

The ACC will cover airfare, lodging and meeting registration and will provide a stipend for the duration of the program. Final eligibility for selected participants depends on active ACC membership.

Applications opened April 13, 2026, and must be submitted by June 8, 2026. Applicants are required to submit an online application, a letter of intent, a curriculum vitae, two letters of recommendation, proof of identity and documentation confirming completion of a training program that qualifies them to practice cardiovascular medicine. All materials must be submitted in English or accompanied by an official translation.

The ACC said selection will consider applicants’ prior achievements, career goals and alignment with the organization’s core values. Additional requirements, including documentation such as proof of immunization, may be requested by participating U.S. institutions.

The program also aligns with the ACC’s diversity and inclusion efforts, encouraging applications from professionals across varied backgrounds and experiences.
