The Indian Consulate in New York recently hosted a roundtable on emerging technologies in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and the IIT Bombay Heritage Foundation.
The event, titled, “Shaping India’s Future Through Emerging Technologies,” witnessed engaging conversations and sessions on the role of emerging technologies in shaping India’s future.
The event marked a significant step toward fully leveraging the diaspora alumni strength of IIT Bombay.
IIT Bombay Heritage Foundation, a California-based nonprofit organization established to assist the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, its faculty, students and alumni, played a key role behind the event.
The grouping continues to further the interests of its parent institution by not just fostering fellowship among alumni but also aiding its purchasing equipment, establishing reference and research facilities, and raising funds for construction and other allied interests of IIT Bombay.

The event featured sessions led by the likes of Dr. Shireesh Kedare, the director of IIT Bombay. Dr. Kedare delivered a presentation on technology sovereignty and the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
The session also featured special remarks by the dean of Columbia Engineering, Dr. Shih-Fu Chang, and the consul general of India in New York, Binaya Srikanta Pradhan. The diplomat spoke about the technology partnership between India and the United States.
Another key attendee of the event was Dr. Pratim Biswas, the dean of the College of Engineering, University of Miami.
Dr. Biswas highlighted the value of the event on LinkedIn and said, “A great event organized by the Indian consulate in NYC.”
He continued, “Great presentation by Director Shireesh Kedare. Kudos to the Indian Consulate in NYC, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and IIT Bombay Heritage Foundation for pulling off a great event.”
IIT Bombay’s dean of alumni and corporate relations, Prof. Upendra Bhandarkar, delivered the vote of thanks for the event.
