Indian selectors on Jan. 3 named Shubman Gill to lead the team for the upcoming three-match New Zealand ODI series, with Shreyas Iyer included subject to fitness.
Mohammed Siraj is also back in the 15-man squad, but Hardik Pandya is being rested.
