MI New York beat Texas Super Kings by eight wickets

The result gave MI New York its first win of the season after losing its opening match.

MI New York defeated Texas Super Kings by eight wickets in Major League Cricket, chasing 159 in 17.4 overs after Corbin Bosch took four wickets and Nicholas Pooran scored an unbeaten half-century.

Texas Super Kings were bowled out for 158 in 19.2 overs after being sent in to bat. Trent Boult struck twice in the opening three overs, dismissing Smit Patel for a first-ball duck and Rilee Rossouw for eight to leave Texas at 20/2.

Saiteja Mukkamalla and Milind Kumar added runs to steady the innings before Bosch removed Mukkamalla for 17. Milind scored 39 and Shubham Ranjane made 49 in a 65-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Ranjane fell one run short of a half-century when he was caught at deep midwicket, while Milind was dismissed by Romario Shepherd.

Bosch finished with figures of 4/29 and Boult took 3/18 as Texas Super Kings were dismissed four balls short of their full quota. Boult also became the first bowler in Major League Cricket history to reach 50 wickets.

In reply, MI New York reached 162/2 with 14 balls remaining. Quinton de Kock scored 26 off 16 balls before being bowled by Amshi de Silva in the sixth over.

Monank Patel then made 46 and shared a 64-run partnership with Pooran for the second wicket. After Patel was dismissed lbw by Hardus Viljoen, Pooran continued the chase and remained unbeaten on 68 from 46 deliveries, including six fours and three sixes.

Pooran completed his half-century with a six off Viljoen and finished the match alongside Kieron Pollard, who was unbeaten on seven.

The result gave MI New York its first win of the season after losing its opening match.
