“We’re proud to endorse @priya4az as she runs to continue representing AZ State Senate, District 18,” the NAL Action Fund said. “As Senate Democratic Leader, she led her caucus and actively spoke out on the violations by ICE and Border Patrol. We know she will fight to defend our democracy.”

“Thank you @NALActionFund for your endorsement!” Sundareshan wrote on X. “I’m proud to fight for all immigrant communities against the attacks we continually see from Republicans.”
An attorney and environmental law professor, Sundareshan has represented Tucson-area District 18 since 2023 and has served as Senate Democratic Leader since January 2025.
Born and raised in Tucson, she previously worked with the Environmental Defense Fund and has been involved in voting rights and redistricting advocacy in Arizona. She holds degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Arizona.
On her campaign website, Sundareshan lists voting rights, reproductive freedom, environmental protection, water conservation and public education among her top priorities. She has also positioned herself as a defender of democratic institutions and ballot access.
Earlier this month, she received the backing of Indian American Impact (IA Impact), a national organization dedicated to increasing South Asian American political representation.
She has also been endorsed by the Arizona Technology Council, which included her in its 2026 legislative endorsement slate, citing support for innovation, workforce development and Arizona's technology economy.
District 18, located in Pima County and encompassing parts of Tucson, is considered one of Arizona's reliably Democratic legislative districts. Sundareshan is seeking another term in the 2026 election cycle as Democrats look to gain ground in the Republican-controlled Arizona Senate.
Arizona voters will elect all 30 state Senate seats on Nov. 3.
