Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi showcased the grassroots support he received from various parts of Illinois in his final digital ad of the Illinois Democratic U.S. Senate primary on March 16.
“Since day 1, we've built a campaign that's fighting for all of Illinois – from Cairo to Rockford, and everywhere in between. It will be my honor to take every Illinoisan's voice with me to the U.S. Senate," the Democrat, who is seeking the Democratic Party's nomination for Senate, said.

The ad featured a video montage of his campaign stops across the state, where he spoke with community members. In Cairo, he identified economic priorities, stating, "The change that I seek is we need more economic development for everybody. That to me is the number one issue."
An immigrant Rockford voter connected personally with Krishnamoorthi’s message, stating, "I share your story as an immigrant coming as a young child. Part of your story is my story,” the voter said.
Krishnamoorthi responded, “We are all people worthy of dignity and respect. We are all people worthy of pursuing our dreams, our full potential, and that is what this campaign and my mission in life are about.”
The primary is for a seat left open by retiring Sen. Dick Durbin.
The primary field includes several candidates, including Krishnamoorthi, Robin Kelly, and Juliana Stratton, dominating the endorsements, media coverage, and fundraising.
Other Indian Americans will also be contesting the primaries for the House of Representatives in Illinois. They include Neil Khot, Sanjyot Dunung, and Junaid Ahmed from the 8th Congressional District.
Polls close at 7 PM on March 17.
