Democrat Nirav Shah announced that he has received the endorsement of Lincoln County Sheriff Todd Brackett, strengthening his campaign for Governor of Maine.
Shah took to X to announce the endorsement and expressed gratitude for the backing, describing Sheriff Brackett as a dedicated leader who has spent his career ensuring the safety of Maine’s communities.

The former Principal Deputy Director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention wrote,
“I’m honored to have the endorsement of Lincoln County Sheriff Todd Brackett, who has dedicated his career to keeping Maine communities safe.”

Shah also highlighted Brackett’s understanding of the importance of steady leadership, clear communication, and coordinated efforts in maintaining public safety, and added,
“Sheriff Brackett understands the importance of steady leadership, clear communication, and working together to protect our communities, and I’m proud to stand with him as we work to build a safer, healthier future for Maine.”
Brackett heaped praise on Shah, referring to the Indian-origin public health leader as the “real deal” and said,
"I've worked with a lot of political leaders. I can tell you firsthand that Dr. Nirav Shah is the real deal. In a crisis, Maine needs a governor who can bring people together, communicate clearly, and protect our communities, and that's exactly why I'm proud to endorse Dr. Nirav Shah for Governor."
Shah officially launched his gubernatorial campaign in October 2025, and the primary elections in Maine are scheduled for June 9, with the general election set for Nov. 3.
