Maharaja Lounge / Air India
Air India has opened its first signature Maharaja Lounge outside India at San Francisco International Airport, marking a major expansion of the airline’s premium hospitality offerings in North America.
The lounge, located at Terminal A of San Francisco International Airport, was inaugurated on May 21 by Consul General of India in San Francisco, Srikar Reddy Koppula.

“Consul General @srikar_koppula inaugurated @airindia’s Maharaja Lounge at San Francisco International Airport on May 21, the airline's first signature lounge outside India,” India in San Francisco said in a post on X. “He toured the lounge, getting a firsthand look at the newly inaugurated space.”
The 3,300-square-foot lounge, designed by global hospitality design firm Hirsch Bedner Associates, can accommodate nearly 80 guests and is part of Air India’s broader global lounge expansion strategy.
The lounge includes multiple curated sections, including the Aviator’s Bar, dining area, private zone for First Class passengers, social seating areas, and tarmac-view sections overlooking aircraft movement at the airport.
Air India said the space incorporates Indian-inspired design elements, regional artwork, and installations made from upcycled aircraft components. A custom painting of the Golden Gate Bridge has also been included to reflect the connection between San Francisco and India.
The San Francisco lounge is the second signature Maharaja Lounge launched by the airline after its flagship facility at Delhi International Airport and forms part of Air India’s ongoing transformation program, Vihaan.AI.
Air India currently operates more than 100 weekly flights between North America and India and plans to continue expanding its premium offerings, including upgraded aircraft cabins and new lounges at key international airports.
