United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer will make his first official visit to India on Oct. 8–9 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During the two-day visit, the two leaders will review progress under the India–UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership through the Vision 2035 roadmap — a 10-year plan covering cooperation in trade and investment, technology and innovation, defence and security, climate and energy, health, education, and people-to-people ties.

According to India's Ministry of External Affairs, Modi and Starmer will meet in Mumbai on Oct. 9 to discuss opportunities arising from the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), signed earlier this year. The two leaders are also expected to exchange views on regional and global issues.

Both prime ministers will attend the 6th edition of the Global Fintech Fest in Mumbai, where they will deliver keynote addresses and engage with industry experts, policymakers, and innovators.

Starmer’s visit comes less than three months after Modi’s trip to the United Kingdom in July 2025, during which both sides strengthened the Vision 2035 strategy and signed a defence industrial roadmap to promote co-development and co-production of key defence technologies.

Modi also met King Charles III at Sandringham, presenting a tree sapling under his “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” environmental initiative.
