Trump’s India Envoy pick Sergio Gor vows to deepen defense, trade, and tech ties

Sergio Gor called India a “strategic partner” and pledged to push defence, trade, technology, and energy cooperation if confirmed as U.S. Ambassador to India.

President Donald Trump’s nominee for US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, on Sept. 11 outlined a four-pillar agenda—defence, trade, technology, and energy—telling senators that India is central to American strategy and regional stability.

“India is a strategic partner whose trajectory will shape the region and beyond,” he told members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee during his confirmation hearing. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, making a surprise appearance, endorsed his confirmation.
