President Donald Trump said on Oct. 10 that his planned meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping was uncertain, citing new frictions over trade and export controls, even as he insisted that relations between the two countries remained “very good.”

“I haven’t cancelled, but I don’t know that we’re going to have it,” Trump told reporters at the White House. “I’m going to be there regardless, so I would assume we might have it. But they hit the world with something that really is not anything that people are going to do… it was shocking.”
