President Donald Trump on Nov. 21 distanced himself from Rep. Elise Stefanik's repeated claims that New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani is a "jihadist," telling reporters in the Oval Office that they should "ask her" about the remarks and insisting that he found Mamdani to be a "very rational person."

Trump sidestepped a politically charged question after being asked whether he agreed with Rep. Elise Stefanik's characterization of Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani as a "jihadist."
