President Donald Trump on Nov. 21 showered unexpected praise on New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, calling his political rise “amazing” and describing how the once-obscure candidate climbed rapidly from the bottom of the polls to win a primary “nobody expected him to win.”
Trump, who only weeks earlier had labelled Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani a dangerous radical, publicly celebrated Mamdani’s political ascent on Friday, calling his campaign one of the most remarkable in recent city history.
