Following a report by New India Abroad detailing the distressing situation of a 22-year-old tribal woman trapped in an Omani household, where she faced alleged sexual harassment by an elderly man, the victim has now been placed in a One Stop Center run by the Embassy of India in Oman.

After the article was published on July 15, the Embassy reached out to the victim, and she successfully left the Omani household the following day.

"This is to inform you that the woman arrived at the Embassy today and has been accommodated at the Embassy's shelter, the One Stop Center, which is operated by the Embassy to provide boarding and lodging facilities to distressed Indian nationals. With regard to her repatriation to India, the Embassy is taking up the matter with her employer as well as the Omani authorities. Any further updates in this regard will be communicated in due course," Sumit Kumar, assistant section officer at the community welfare wing at the Indian Embassy in Oman told New India Abroad in an email reply.
