The Seattle University School of Law has announced the establishment of the Mehta Wahi Scholarship, a new award aimed at supporting an incoming LLM student with a demonstrated interest in South Asia–related legal, social, or policy issues.
The scholarship created through a gift from Pallavi Mehta Wahi, a Seattle-based attorney and civic leader, and Ash Wahi, a technology entrepreneur, reflects the donors’ emphasis on global legal study and the role of cross-border education in advancing justice.

Seattle University School of Law said the scholarship would be administered in partnership with the Roundglass India Center, which works across the university to support teaching, research, and dialogue related to India and the Indian diaspora. The center was founded in 2023 through a gift from the Roundglass Foundation.
“This scholarship represents more than financial support—it represents a commitment to who belongs in the legal profession,” said Anthony E. Varona, dean of Seattle University School of Law.
“At Seattle University, we believe excellence in legal education must be inclusive, global, and accessible. Our international students bring extraordinary talent and perspective to our community. By expanding access for internationally trained lawyers, the Mehta Wahi Scholarship strengthens our shared pursuit of justice and ensures that diverse voices continue to shape the future of the law,” he added.
Sital Kalantry, professor of law and founding director of the Roundglass India Center, said, “Scholarships like the Mehta Wahi Scholarship are transformative—not only for the individual student, but for the broader legal conversations we cultivate at Seattle University.”
“By supporting an LLM student focused on South Asia-related legal and policy issues, Pallavi and Ash are advancing meaningful cross-border dialogue and strengthening ties between legal communities,” she added.
The law school enrolls students from across the world and is nationally recognized for its focus on access to justice, public service, and experiential learning. Its LLM program is designed to provide internationally trained lawyers with a foundation in U.S. law while promoting global legal understanding.
University officials said the Mehta Wahi Scholarship also supports Seattle University’s Jesuit mission of educating the whole person and preparing legal professionals committed to justice and humanity.
