RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat to address NY gathering
The Aug. 29 gathering will bring together Hindu American leaders and organizations from across the country to celebrate Raksha Bandhan and promote unity, dialogue and service.

Universal Oneness Celebration / AHEAD Forum
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat is expected to address the Universal Oneness Celebrations in New York City on Aug. 29.
The event, organized by AHEAD Forum, is being held in connection with Raksha Bandhan and is expected to bring together Hindu American community leaders and representatives of cultural, spiritual, faith-based and community organizations from across the United States.

The gathering will center on the theme “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” or “The World Is One Family,” and will present the concept as a framework for dialogue, mutual respect, shared responsibility and service.
Raksha Bandhan, traditionally associated with the bond between siblings, will be presented at the gathering as a broader symbol of responsibility and care among communities, nations, humanity and nature.
Organizers said the event comes amid broader discussions in the United States about social cohesion, pluralism, civic participation and interfaith understanding. It will also highlight the contributions of Hindu Americans in education, health care, business, public service, philanthropy and civic engagement.
Participants are expected to include community leaders, entrepreneurs, physicians, educators, attorneys, artists, elected officials, youth leaders, veterans, faith leaders and volunteers. Delegations are also expected from Hindu temples, yoga organizations, educational institutions, service organizations, regional and linguistic associations, cultural groups and interfaith communities.
The RSS, founded in 1925, describes itself as a volunteer-based social and cultural organization focused on community service, education, disaster relief, rural development, environmental stewardship and social harmony.
AHEAD Forum describes itself as a collaborative platform promoting civic participation, constructive engagement and dialogue among Hindu organizations and community leaders in the United States.
