Sikh Youth Symposium returns to Atlanta after 13-year gap
The symposium also included a tribute to the late S. Kuldeep Singh, national convener of SYANA.

The Sikh Youth Alliance of North America (SYANA) recently concluded its annual public-speaking event, the International Sikh Youth Symposium 2026 on Aug. 2.
Held at the Sikh Study Circle Gurdwara Sahib in Stone Mountain, Georgia, the four-day symposium returned to the Atlanta area after a 13-year gap and brought together 73 children and youth ages 6 to 22 from 14 regions across the United States and Canada.
More than 300 people, including participants, family members, organizers and members of the local congregation, attended the event.

The international symposium is the culmination of a yearlong public-speaking program that begins with local competitions in various cities. Winners advance through regional competitions before the top participants from 14 regions compete at the international level.
Participants were divided into five age groups and prepared 5- to 7-minute speeches based on assigned books or themes and three questions provided months in advance. Topics included “My Guru’s Blessings – Book 6,” “The Warrior Princess – Part 2,” “Teaching Sikh Heritage to the Youth,” “The Message of Gurbani – Anand” and “Guru’s View of a Just World – Begampura Sehar Ko Nao.”
The final theme addressed equality, human dignity, social justice, the institution of langar and the Sikh vision of a just society.
The symposium also included a tribute to the late S. Kuldeep Singh, national convener of SYANA, who died in an accident at the end of May. Organizers and the congregation remembered his contributions to Gurmat camps and the symposium, as well as his efforts to guide Sikh youth toward their faith and heritage.
The first-place winners were Jalnidh Kaur, Sarbat Singh, Kesar Singh, Suhavi Kaur and Sehajveer Singh in Groups 1 through 5, respectively. All international finalists received the “Distinguished Speaker Award.”
The 2027 International Sikh Youth Symposium is scheduled to take place in New Jersey during the first weekend of August 2027.
