Poonam Arora named dean of Babson College’s undergraduate school

Babson College appointed Poonam Arora as the new dean of its Undergraduate School, the institution announced on Dec. 10.

Arora currently serves as associate dean of faculty affairs and strategic initiatives and professor of management at Quinnipiac University.

Since joining Quinnipiac in 2022, she has led strategic planning efforts within the School of Business, supported reaccreditation processes, restructured assurance of learning systems and standards, advanced curriculum innovation, and updated expectations for scholarly contributions.

“Arora brings a wealth of thought leadership and experience across academia and the corporate world to this new role,” provost and executive vice president Ariel Armony said. “Her student-first approach to academic leadership will ensure that Babson remains the top destination for learners seeking to make the world a better place for generations to come.”

“Arora has proven to be a passionate supporter of faculty excellence and interdisciplinary approaches to the integration of liberal arts and business education,” Armony said. “That support and philosophy will pair well with Babson’s proven Entrepreneurial Thought & Action® framework,” Armony added.

Before Quinnipiac, Arora held multiple academic leadership positions at Manhattan College, including Capalbo Professor of business administration, chair of the management and marketing department, co-director of the Center for Ethics, and chair of the O’Malley School of Business Strategic Priorities Committee. 

She also served as faculty representative for the Shared Governance Working Group.

Arora’s professional experience spans the corporate and nonprofit sectors. She previously served as acting executive director and CFO of Working Today Inc., vice president of U.S. securitization at Citicorp Securities, senior associate at McKinsey & Company, and junior economist at the United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in business economics, summa cum laude, from John Cabot University in Rome, an master’s in business administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and a doctorate in psychology with a focus on behavioral decision-making from Columbia University.
