Chasing 167, MI New York lost early wickets and were under pressure at 43 for 2 by the seventh over. Captain Nicholas Pooran, who had not enjoyed consistent form this season, took charge of the innings.
He built a steady 40-run partnership with Monank Patel to stabilize the chase. After Patel was dismissed by Noor Ahmad, MI New York still required 84 runs from 46 balls.
Kieron Pollard, who came in next, played a key role in closing out the match. He struck a six off his first ball and followed it with a quick 53* from 21 deliveries. Along with Pooran’s unbeaten 66, Pollard helped the team complete the chase with an over to spare.
Earlier, TSK were reduced to 85 for 5 following a strong bowling performance from Tristan Luus, who finished with figures of 3 for 35. Akeal Hosein scored 50 off 32 balls, and along with Donovan Ferreira’s 32, guided TSK to a total of 166 for 5.
Texas Super Kings, who finished second in the league stage, exit the tournament after back-to-back losses in the playoffs. MI New York have now won two straight knockout games and advance to the final in solid form.
