Indian American Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi on Sept.9 blasted the State Department for shutting down a domestic H-1B visa renewal pilot program he had strongly backed, calling the decision a setback for immigrant workers, businesses and the U.S. economy.
“The H-1B renewal pilot program was a commonsense initiative that made government more efficient, reduced backlogs for workers and businesses, and strengthened our legal immigration system — boosting our economy and creating good-paying American jobs,” Krishnamoorthi said.
