AAPI Equity Alliance and leaders from Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities are organizing, 'Reclaim Our Streets', a community rally against the raids and arrests by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the increased military presence in Los Angeles.
The Sept. 11 event, to be held at Long Beach, California, will witness diverse AAPI communities coming together for a rally and afternoon of music, food and celebration of vibrant cultures.
Addressing the multiple instances of ICE raids on immigrants, AAPI Equity Alliance said in a statement, "The harm of kidnapping of loved ones and neighbors has had a chilling effect on the economy and quality of life."
It further said, "Local actions across the city and state will call attention to missing loved ones and demand an end to the terror."

Additionally, impacted families will be urged to share their stories with the attendees, thereby creating a deeper understanding of the shared experience of thousands of immigrant families in the area.
Manjusha Kulkarni, the Executive Director, AAPI Equity Alliance will be speaking at the rally. Along with Kulkarni, United Cambodian Community's Associate Program Director, Sayon Syprasoeuth and South Asian Network's Executive Director, Shakeel Syed would also share their views on the alleged assault on immigrant rights.
Additionally, the rally would also condemn the Sept. 8 US Supreme Court ruling that allows immigration agents to stop people based on race or ethnicity.
