A 34-year-old Indian origin man, Amandeep Singh-Bola, is being hailed as one of the heroes of the Bondi Beach attack in Australia. Bola had aided the police in subduing one of the attackers by tackling him and pinning him down, according to SBS News.
On Dec. 14, 2025, two gunmen carried out a terrorist mass shooting at a Hanukkah celebration on Sydney's Bondi Beach, killing 15 people and injuring dozens.
The attack, described as Islamic State-inspired antisemitism targeting the Jewish community, has prompted national mourning, a gun buyback scheme, and new hate speech measures in Australia.

Bola, born to Indian and Kiwi parents, helped tackle suspect Sajid Akram, one of the attackers, SBS News reported.
Bola was relaxing at the beach and eating a Kebab when the attack took place. He initially tried to take cover but decided to go on the offensive once he had his eyes locked on the attacker. Bola ran to the bridge where the attacker was firing at people and pinned him down with the help of a police officer.
"I jumped on top of [the shooter] and grabbed his arms. The police officer helped me and said not to let him go," the report quoted him as saying.
Bola added that he could feel the alleged shooter he had pinned down dying from the gunshot wound from the police.
Australia's federal police commissioner Krissy Barrett has described the shooting as "a terrorist attack inspired by Islamic State". Sajid Akram has been identified as an Indian citizen hailing from Hyderabad, who migrated to Australia 27 years ago. The other suspect Naveed Akram is an Australian citizen.
