Georgia Hindus rally behind Burt Jones for Lt.Gov

Community leaders and professionals gathered to support Jones' gubernatorial bid ahead of the runoff.

The Hindus of Georgia Political Action Committee (HiPAC) hosted a fundraiser supporting Georgia Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones's gubernatorial campaign.

The event also marked HiPAC's formal endorsement of Jones and highlighted the growing political engagement of Georgia's Hindu-American community.

"We are thrilled by the overwhelming turnout and the immense generosity shown by our community at this event," said Rajeev Menon, co-founder and board member of HiPAC. 

"Our community's foundational pillars–hard work, family unity, economic freedom, and safe neighborhoods–perfectly align with the proven leadership of Lt. Governor Burt Jones. The success of this fundraiser underscores our collective commitment to ensuring he has the resources needed to win the runoff and keep Georgia thriving,” he added.

Dhiru Shah, another co-founder and board member of the PAC, said the event reflected the Hindu-American community's commitment to Georgia's future.

"The incredible energy and immense financial support we witnessed tonight demonstrate the Hindu-American community's deep commitment to Georgia's future," Shah said. "Our families value entrepreneurship, safe streets, strong educational foundations, and fiscal responsibility. Lt. Governor Burt Jones embodies these exact principles."

Bhushan Mocherla, another board member of the PAC, said the organization's endorsement reflected what it sees as a shared set of values with Jones' campaign.

"I found our community's bedrock principles of truthfulness, compassion and righteousness in Lt. Gov. Burt Jones. We highly endorse him for governor of the great state of Georgia," Mocherla said.

Addressing attendees, Jones acknowledged the economic and cultural contributions of Hindu Americans in Georgia, noting their presence across sectors including healthcare, hospitality, technology, and retail.

"I am incredibly grateful to the Hindus of Georgia PAC and every individual who contributed to making this event such a massive success," Jones said. 

"Hindu Americans are driving job creation, building businesses, and strengthening communities all across Georgia. With their incredible support, we are going to win this runoff, continue cutting state income taxes, protect public safety, and ensure Georgia remains the best state in the nation to live, work, and build a business."

According to HiPAC, proceeds from the fundraiser will support the Jones campaign's grassroots organizing, voter outreach, and media operations in the final days before the Republican runoff election  

The winner of the June 16 contest will advance to face Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms in the November general election.

HiPAC is an independent, non-partisan political action committee that supports candidates committed to religious freedom, civil and human rights, and issues affecting Hindu Americans.
