American cosmetics giant Estee Lauder Companies has bought Indian luxury Ayurvedic skincare brand Forest Essentials, acquiring full ownership of the company.

Este Lauder first invested in Forest Essentials in 2008 with a minority stake and gradually increased its ownership to 49 per cent in 2020.

The latest agreement involves purchasing the remaining shares, allowing Este Lauder to take complete control of the brand.

While financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed, the deal marks a major milestone in the nearly two-decade partnership between the two brands.

The acquisition, which is expected to close in the second half of 2026, is anticipated to strengthen Estée Lauder’s presence in India’s premium beauty market.

Forest Essentials was founded in 2000 by entrepreneur Mira Kulkarni and is known for its luxury skincare products inspired by traditional Ayurvedic formulations.

Despite the change in ownership, Forest Essentials will continue to operate from India and maintain its focus on Ayurvedic research, local sourcing of botanicals, and in-house manufacturing.

Founder Kulkarni is also reportedly expected to remain involved in leading the brand’s growth.
