California Lt. Gov honors Ajay Jain Bhutoria
The recognition cites his contributions to public policy, immigration reform, workforce development and community advocacy across California.

Former White House Commissioner Ajay Jain Bhutoria was honored by California Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis for his civic leadership and public service.
The commendation recognizes Bhutoria's contributions to public policy, immigration reform, workforce development and economic equity, as well as his efforts to empower diverse communities and expand civic participation across California and the United States.

In the statement of recognition, Kounalakis praised Bhutoria's contributions to public service and community leadership.
"In recognition of your exceptional civic leadership and outstanding public service... As a dedicated community leader and policy innovator, your dedication has built meaningful bridges of understanding, advanced critical workforce initiatives, and empowered diverse voices across our state,” she said.
"Your commitment to diversity, compassion, and shared civic responsibility exemplifies the best of the Californian spirit. Thank you for your dedication to public service and your continued leadership,” she added.
Responding to the recognition, Bhutoria said, "Receiving this recognition from Lt. Governor Kounalakis is an incredibly humbling moment.”.
"Moments like this reaffirm the importance of building bridges, empowering communities, and using policy innovation to create real, positive impact. Thank you, Lt. Governor, for your steadfast leadership and for continuing to inspire all of us to serve with purpose," he added.
Bhutoria served on former President Joe Biden's Advisory Commission on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders (AANHPI), where he advised the administration on policies affecting AANHPI communities.
Appointed in 2021, he advocated for reducing immigration backlogs, improving family-based visa processing, expanding economic opportunities for small businesses and strengthening civic participation for immigrant communities. He has also been a vocal advocate for legal immigration reforms, workforce development and economic opportunity.
Beyond his federal service, Bhutoria has been active in civic and community initiatives in California, working on issues related to immigration, economic development and public policy.
