Air India to move operations to JFK Terminal 6 from 2028
As part of the relocation, Air India will open its first flagship Maharaja Lounge at JFK.

Air India on July 21 announced that it will relocate its operations from Terminal 4 of the John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to the airport's new Terminal 6 beginning in 2028.
The announcement was made jointly by JFK Millennium Partners (JMP), the company developing and operating Terminal 6, and Air India. The airline also confirmed plans to open its first flagship Maharaja Lounge at JFK as part of the move.
The move will make Air India the 16th international airline to commit to Terminal 6, joining Star Alliance members Air Canada, All Nippon Airways (ANA), Austrian Airlines, Avianca, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa, SWISS and TAP Air Portugal, along with Aer Lingus, Cathay Pacific, Condor, JetBlue, Kuwait Airways, Icelandair and Norse Atlantic.

The airline said its existing codeshare and interline partnerships with several of these carriers will enable smoother same-terminal connections to destinations across the Americas.
As part of the relocation, Air India will open its first flagship Maharaja Lounge at JFK. The 9,100-square-foot facility, located post-security, will build on the airline's recently opened Maharaja Lounge at San Francisco International Airport and offer premium amenities alongside Indian hospitality.
Air India currently operates daily nonstop services from JFK's Terminal 4 to Delhi and Mumbai using Airbus A350 and Boeing 777 aircraft. Those operations will continue from Terminal 4 until the airline transitions to Terminal 6 in 2028.

"
Terminal 6 is being developed as part of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's $19 billion redevelopment of JFK Airport. The project will be completed in two phases, with the first gates opening in 2026 and the remaining facilities expected to be operational by 2028.
