Popular Punjabi actress Neeru Bajwa attended the annual gala hosted by the American Punjabi Society (APS) on Dec. 10 in Hicksville, New York.
The event highlighted Punjabi culture, community service, and leadership, featuring awards, cultural performances, and participation from elected representatives and civic organizations.
Several dignitaries, including Consul General of India Binaya Srikanta Pradhan, NY State Republican Party Chairman Edward Cox, NY State Senator Steven Rhodes, Human Rights Commission Chairman Bobby Kumar, and Office of Asian American Affairs Executive Director Own Naqvi, were in attendance at the event.

APS president Gary Sikka said the society’s achievements were driven by collective effort, stating that its progress reflects “the collective strength of our community.”
Prominent Indian-American hotelier Sant Singh Chatwal addressed the gathering, underscoring the role of diaspora institutions in sustaining cultural identity and community cohesion.
Praising APS, he said, “APS is doing exemplary work in bringing our community together through seva, culture, youth empowerment, and humanitarian service,” and highlighted the importance of passing core Punjabi values to future generations.

The central highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Punjabi Ratan Award to Harry Singh Bolla, recognizing his contributions to philanthropy, entrepreneurship, and community leadership.
Accepting the honor, Bolla said, “Whatever I have achieved is due to Waheguru’s blessings and the love of this community,” dedicating the award to hardworking members of the Punjabi diaspora.
Women’s Council chair Navneet Sikka Sondhi highlighted women-led initiatives and announced upcoming humanitarian efforts, including a winter coat drive and a children’s holiday wish drive, calling on community members to participate.

During the event, APS highlighted recent initiatives, including pilgrimage programs, health drives, youth mentorship, and cultural events organized in partnership with local authorities.
