Democrats mark Amish Shah's campaign as key House battleground
The announcement follows Shah's Democratic primary victory in Arizona's 1st Congressional District.

Democratic congressional candidate Amish Shah said July 28 that his campaign joined the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's (DCCC) Red to Blue program, which supports the party's top House battleground candidates.
"Today, I'm excited to announce that our campaign has been added to the DCCC's Red to Blue program. That's confirmation of what we've always known," Shah wrote on X.

The designation is significant as the DCCC had endorsed Shah’s rival Marlene Galán-Woods in the primary, before Shah defeated her to secure the nomination earlier this month.

Shah said the designation reaffirmed his belief that Arizona's 1st Congressional District would be one of the most competitive House races in the country and that Democrats have an opportunity to flip the seat.
"We have the support of Democrats, Republicans and Independents in this race. I'm looking forward to continuing to build a broad coalition to win in November," he said.
The DCCC's Red to Blue program identifies Democratic candidates in the nation's most competitive House races and provides participating campaigns with fundraising, strategic, communications, and organizational support.
Candidates are selected after meeting benchmarks for grassroots organizing, fundraising, local support, and campaign infrastructure.
In recent days, Shah has also received endorsements from a broad coalition of current and former elected officials, including former Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers, U.S. Reps. Raja Krishnamoorthi of Illinois and Suhas Subramanyam of Virginia, former Arizona Democratic Party Chair Andrei Cherny, Maricopa County Supervisor Steve Gallardo, and several current and former Arizona state legislators.
Arizona's 1st Congressional District, which includes Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Fountain Hills, and parts of northeast Phoenix. The seat is open after Republican Rep. David Schweikert chose to run for governor instead of seeking re-election.
Shah will face Republican nominee Jay Feely, a former NFL kicker endorsed by President Donald Trump, in the Nov. 3, general election.
