The Consulate General of India in Seattle will host "Mango Magic," a festival celebrating the arrival of Indian mangoes in the Pacific Northwest, on June 5, featuring some of the country's most popular mango varieties.

Announcing the festival, the Consulate General of India in Seattle said the event will showcase Alphonso, Kesar, Banganpalli, Rajapuri, Langra, Himayat and Dussehri mangoes. The consulate described the festival as a celebration of the "global journey" of Indian mangoes and their growing presence in international markets.

The event comes weeks after the consulate announced that Indian Kesar mangoes had begun arriving at select Costco stores across the Greater Seattle area as part of ongoing efforts to expand the presence of Indian fresh produce in the US market.

According to the event announcement, the festival will be held from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Consulate's Multipurpose Hall in downtown Seattle and will feature mango-centric Indian cuisine alongside tastings of different mango varieties.

Entry is by invitation, although the consulate has invited interested attendees to register through email, subject to availability.

Earlier this year, the mission organized promotional events for Indian pomegranates, following which the Bhagwa variety from Maharashtra became available in Costco stores in the Greater Seattle area. The consulate had also announced plans in April to bring Indian mangoes to the region.

The upcoming event builds on similar mango promotion initiatives held in Seattle in 2025 in partnership with the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).

Those events brought together importers, retailers, media representatives and local officials to promote wider availability of Indian mangoes in the region. The consulate said Indian mango exports to the United States recorded a 19 percent increase in 2024.

India is the world's largest producer of mangoes and is home to hundreds of varieties cultivated across different regions of the country. The fruit remains one of India's most recognizable agricultural exports and is often referred to as the "king of fruits."
