The Consulate General of India in Houston, in partnership with the Texas Sports & Cultural Foundation, brought Kerala’s celebrated classical dance-drama, Kathakali, to Texas audiences this past week.
The series of performances, held on Sept. 19 in Pearland near Houston and on Sept. 20 and 21 in Dallas, featured acclaimed artists from India and was met with enthusiasm from members of the audience.

The Houston show took place at the Sri Meenakshi Temple Kalyana Mandapam, drawing a large turnout for an evening that recreated episodes from the Mahabharata.
\In a statement, the Consulate General of India, Houston, said the event highlighted India’s rich cultural heritage, strengthened cultural ties, and promoted awareness of Kerala’s classical art traditions in the United States.
