Senate panel advances Gor, Sinha, Kapur amid partisan split

With committee approval, the nominations now move to the Senate floor, where final confirmation votes will be scheduled.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Sept. 17 advanced President Donald Trump’s nominees Sergio Gor, Anjani Sinha, and Paul Kapur, sending three critical Asia-related appointments to the full Senate after razor-thin, mostly party-line votes.

In all, 36 Trump administration nominees were approved by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in a business meeting marked by sharp partisan divides.
