Indian indie video game creators, underDOGS Studio, has assembled a cast of prominent actors for its upcoming narrative driven first-person thriller, 'Mukti'.

Founded in 2011 by Vaibhav Chavan, underDOGS Studio has grown into a celebrated creator of 250+ mobile, PC, and console games, including original IPs. The studio is currently focusing on 'Mukti', a next-gen console and PC title, while collaborating with top publishers to bring bold new IPs to life.

Created under Sony’s PlayStation India Hero Project initiative, the upcoming game will showcase filmed performances by Ahilya Bamroo, recognized for her role in Shoojit Sircar’s 'I Want to Talk.' Along with Bamroo, theater stalwart M.K. Raina and actors Pawan Chopra and Sraman Chatterjee will also feature in the game.

Bamroo stars as protagonist Arya Roy, while Raina presents the part of Dr. Vikram Roy, Chopra plays Commodore Balraj Gill, and Chatterjee portrays Hasan, according to Variety.

Conventionally, game developers rely on animation or motion capture to bring the scenes from the game to life, however, underDOGS Studio shot the actors’ scenes like film sequences before incorporating them into the interactive experience.

Vaibhav Chavan, founder-CEO of underDOGS Studio, told Variety, “These aren’t cameos, they are the emotional core of ‘Mukti.’"

Describing the importance of the creative choice, Chavan said, "Every performance was treated like cinema, carefully directed and seamlessly integrated into the game. The result is a narrative that feels immediate, grounded and unforgettable."

The studio describes 'Mukti' as a "groundbreaking first-person story exploration game set within the immersive environment of an Indian museum".

It also notes that the game will delve into the issue of human trafficking. Through rich storytelling and immersive gameplay mechanics, the game will force players to confront the realities faced by victims and survivors, shedding light on this pressing global issue.
