We are thrilled to kick off 2025’s first concert with none other than Preeti Tamhankar.
Preeti Tamhankar is a young Hindustani classical vocalist born and raised in the Bay Area. Her journey in classical music began in childhood under the guidance of her mother, Archana Tamhankar, and father, Manoj Tamhankar. At the age of 8, she had the privilege of learning for some time from the legendary Pandita Dr. Veena Sahasrabuddhe. For the past 15+ years, Preeti has been pursuing online training from the renowned vocalist and guru, Pandit Vijay Koparkar, based in Pune. In addition to music, Preeti has been learning Kathak dance for over 17 years under the tutelage of Smt. Anuradha Nag in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Preeti will be supported on harmonium by her father and guru, Manoj Tamhankar. In his childhood, Manoj received foundational training in harmonium playing from Shri Haribaba Khare in Guhagar, Konkan. After completing his college education, he pursued three years of Hindustani classical vocal training in Mumbai and Pune.
Manoj has accompanied several renowned artists, including the late Dr. Veena Sahasrabuddhe, Pandit Vijay Koparkar, Pandita Shubhada Paradkar, and Pandita Arati Ankalikar-Tikekar. As a passionate music composer, he has published two marathi music albums and has composed several bandishes across various raags to his credit.
Preeti will be supported on tabla by Shivam Sudame, a young talented musician coming from Irvine. Having received training under Shri Hemant Ekbote, Shri Muthu Kumar, and Pt. Aditya Kalyanpur, he continues to learn under renowned Tabla player of India : Pt. Anindo Chatterjee. Other than his accompaniment in various musical shows in south california, Shivam has also performed alongside esteemed artists such as Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya, Pandit Pankaj Mishra and has showcased his skills in front of tabla legends such as Pt. Nayan Ghosh and Pt. Abhijit Banerjee.
