Manhattan University has announced the appointment of Indian-American academician and author Grishma Shah as the new associate dean of the O’Malley School of Business.
As associate dean, Shah will expand global partnerships, strengthen experiential learning, foster cross-cultural engagement, support faculty research, and position the O’Malley School of Business as a hub for globally minded, socially conscious business education, the university said in a statement.

Shah joined the university in 2008 and has established herself as a notable scholar in globalization, gender equity, and cultural change. Her research has been featured in leading outlets such as the Harvard Business Review, and she is a frequent presenter at international conferences.
Since 2019, Shah has served as director of global business studies at the university, where she designed and led immersive learning programs in India, the United Arab Emirates, Greece, Malaysia, and Singapore. These initiatives have enabled students to participate in real-world consulting projects with multinational companies and nonprofits, tackling challenges ranging from sustainable product design to social enterprise marketing.
“Shah brings extensive leadership experience in global business studies and a strong commitment to volunteerism. Her scholarly contributions and insights into gender identity and migration have thoroughly prepared her for this important role,” said dean Hany Guirguis.
Beyond her academic career, Shah has been an active volunteer with Operation Smile, participating in service missions to countries including India, Kenya, Russia, and Ecuador. She is also a published novelist, with her debut work Anagram Destiny exploring themes of migration and identity.
Reflecting on her appointment, Shah said she looks forward to building cross-border partnerships and advancing socially conscious business education. “As associate dean, I look forward to working with Dean Guirguis, our faculty, and students to expand cross-border partnerships, create immersive learning opportunities, and position the O’Malley School of Business as a hub for globally minded, socially conscious business education in a rapidly evolving environment,” she said.
Born to immigrant parents from India, Shah holds a Ph.D. and MA and BA from Rutgers University.
