KJS Dhillon’s Operation Sindoor launched at Chicago Independence Day event
The event focused on the book’s official launch and paid tribute to the bravery of India’s armed forces and the sacrifices of freedom fighters

The Global Indian Diaspora Foundation (GIDF) and the International University of Vedic Wellness celebrated India’s Independence Day by hosting a book launch for Lt. Gen. KJS Dhillon’s Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India's Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan.
Lt. Gen. Dhillon, a retired Indian Army officer, is also chairperson of the Board of Governors at IIT Mandi. His book provides a military analysis based on his experience as a commander in Jammu and Kashmir. He took command of the XV Corps, also known as the Chinar Corps, four days before the Pulwama terrorist attack.
The event focused on the book’s official launch and paid tribute to the bravery of India’s armed forces and the sacrifices of freedom fighters. Organizers also recognized members of the Indian diaspora who served in the Indian military.
Operation Sindoor provides a detailed account of the four-day conflict between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack.
The event also featured a Kathak dance performance set to "Vande Mataram," presented by the Chicago Nupur Dance Academy. The performance marked the 150th anniversary of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s composition of "Vande Mataram."
Guru Mahaswata Ganguly led the dance, with Mishka Pattanayak, Raya Pattanayak, Ankita Paul, Sohini Dutta and Lina Chakraborty performing.
GIDF founding President Rakesh Malhotra welcomed dignitaries, community leaders and members of the Indian diaspora to the event. He also extended greetings for India’s 80th Independence Day, the 150th anniversary of "Vande Mataram" and the 250th anniversary of American independence.
