Minnesota State Capitol prepares for IndiaFest 2026
The state of Minnesota has officially recognized Aug. 15 as India Day, and the event is expected to draw more than 25,000 visitors throughout the day.

The Minnesota State Capitol grounds in downtown St. Paul are set to transform into a vibrant mini-India Aug. 15 as the India Association of Minnesota hosts its signature annual festival, IndiaFest 2026, to celebrate India's 80th Independence Day.
The state of Minnesota has officially recognized Aug. 15 as India Day, and the event is expected to draw more than 25,000 visitors throughout the day.
Ahead of the festivities, U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum encouraged Minnesotans to attend the event, highlighting the festival's role in sharing Indian heritage with the broader public.
McCollum noted that the gathering provides local residents with a unique window into Indian culture and traditions through family-friendly activities, food and traditional art.

"The India Association of Minnesota is hosting their annual IndiaFest ... at the state Capitol, providing Minnesotans a window into Indian culture and traditions. Festivities include family-friendly activities, art, food and more," McCollum wrote on X.
The organizers have lined up more than 100 festival booths featuring regional cuisine, traditional apparel, artisan bazaars and educational exhibits from community organizations.
The day's schedule includes an afternoon grand parade, official flag hoisting with remarks from local elected officials, student scholarship awards, classical dance showcases and an evening "Bollywood Nite" musical concert featuring regional bands and dance groups.
IndiaFest is IAM's signature annual event, giving attendees the opportunity to "Experience India in a Day."
