Siddharth joins cast of upcoming Netflix immigrant romance drama
The series is described as a culturally vibrant and emotionally charged drama about love, belonging, and desire in the Indian American diaspora.

Netflix has announced Indian actor Siddharth as part of the lead cast in its upcoming adaptation of Unaccustomed Earth, where he will star opposite Freida Pinto.
The eight-episode series, inspired by Jhumpa Lahiri’s Pulitzer Prize–winning short story collection, is being adapted for the screen by writer and showrunner Madhuri Shekar (3 Body Problem) and produced by John Wells (Shameless, ER).

Siddharth will play Amit Mukherjee, a Bengali American man raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Known for his generosity and openness, Mukherjee is the dependable friend everyone relies on in times of need, yet he faces struggles in finding stability in both love and work. His life takes a dramatic turn when Parul Chaudhury (Pinto), a devoted wife and his long-lost love, reappears, igniting a scandalous affair that sends ripples through their close-knit immigrant community.
The series is described as a culturally vibrant and emotionally charged drama about love, belonging, and desire in the Indian American diaspora. Ritesh Batra (The Lunchbox) will direct and executive produce the first two episodes, joining a creative team that includes Lahiri, Nisha Ganatra, Erica Saleh, Erin Jontow, and Celia Costas.
For Siddharth, this project marks another milestone in his international career. Earlier this year, he appeared in Netflix’s Test, a tense drama centered around lives colliding at a cricket match. With Unaccustomed Earth, the actor steps into a layered role that highlights both vulnerability and strength, qualities that have long defined his performances in acclaimed films such as Rang De Basanti, Bommarillu, and Chithha.

Also joining the ensemble cast are Sarayu Blue, Indraneil Sengupta, Adi Roy, and Iyla Sundarsingh McKaig. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television in partnership with John Wells Productions.
