The U.S. Consulate General Mumbai on June 6 hosted the final session of its four-city U.S.-India Semiconductor Roundtable Series at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.

The series, in partnership with the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) and pan-India law firm Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas (SAM), brought together leaders from government, academia, and industry to deepen strategic collaboration in semiconductor innovation and supply chain resilience.

Consul General Mike Hankey, along with Jared Mondschein, Senior Advisor in the Office of the Special Envoy for Critical and Emerging Technology (S/TECH), led the discussions.

The event emphasized the importance of secure and resilient technology supply chains and reinforced the objectives of the TRUST Initiative—Transforming the Relationship Utilizing Strategic Technology—jointly launched by President Trump and Prime Minister Modi in February 2025.

“The semiconductor industry is central to the future of global innovation, and India—especially Western India—is poised to play a defining role” Hankey said. He praised the roundtable series for fostering essential public-private dialogue and advancing U.S.-India cooperation.

Mondschein highlighted the operational goals of the TRUST Initiative, including ongoing efforts to align AI infrastructure, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and emerging tech supply chains. “Our priority is to operationalize the TRUST Initiative across the emerging technology sectors of the United States and India,” he said.

The finale also saw the release of a white paper outlining opportunities for collaboration in knowledge transfer, workforce development, and responsible innovation in semiconductors. Since its launch in January, the series has been held in Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, and Ahmedabad, playing a pivotal role in mapping India’s semiconductor potential and bilateral strategic cooperation.
