Two Indian-origin men wanted in Mississauga rental fraud
Police say at least eight victims were allegedly defrauded in a Mississauga apartment rental scheme.

Peel Regional Police are seeking two Indian-origin men in connection with an alleged apartment rental fraud in Mississauga.
Authorities have issued arrest warrants for Jashanpreet Sidhu, 23, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and Priyanshu Goel, 24, of Surrey, British Columbia.

The suspects allegedly advertised apartment rental opportunities on social media between January and February 2025, police said. Victims visited an apartment, met individuals who falsely claimed to be current tenants and signed rental agreements online.
The victims then sent money by e-transfer to secure the units. When they arrived to take possession, they discovered that the apartments were unavailable and the person posing as the landlord could no longer be contacted, according to police.
Investigators have identified at least eight victims who collectively lost more than $30,000. None received the promised accommodations or had their money returned, police said.
Sidhu is wanted on charges of fraud over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime. Goel is wanted on a charge of fraud over $5,000.
Police are urging people searching for rental accommodations online to verify the identity of prospective property owners and conduct due diligence before signing agreements or sending deposits.
Authorities also advised prospective renters not to feel pressured into signing rental agreements online or sending money before verifying the rental and the identity of the person offering it.
Police directed the public to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre for additional information on fraud prevention.
