President Donald Trump said Oct. 5 that a prolonged government shutdown could cause “a great deal of pain,” even as he blamed Democrats for the impasse and vowed to restore safety in crime-plagued cities through tougher federal action.
“It could lead to pain, but hang in there,” Trump told reporters. “A lot of good things are going to happen.”
