US President Donald Trump vowed Aug.29 to go to the Supreme Court over an appeals court ruling that most of the tariffs he has imposed on US imports, upending global trade, were illegal.

The appeals court "incorrectly" issued the ruling "but they know the United States of America will win in the end," Trump said on his Truth Social platform, adding that he would fight back "with the help of the United States Supreme Court."

The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on Aug.29 affirmed a lower court ruling that struck down five executive orders by President Donald J. Trump is imposing sweeping tariffs on imports from Canada, Mexico, China, and dozens of other US trading partners.

In a 7–4 en banc decision, the court held that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) does not authorise the President to impose tariffs of “unlimited duration on nearly all goods from nearly every country in the world”.
