London Mayor Sadiq Khan on July 17 said a suspect has been arrested and charged in the fatal stabbing of a 24-year-old Indian-origin woman in west London.

The Metropolitan Police arrested 44-year-old Daniel Sean James shortly after the incident. He has since been charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a bladed article. The investigation remains ongoing.
According to media reports, the attacker allegedly broke into the house, entered her bedroom and assaulted her with a sharp-edged weapon while her husband and child were lying next to her.
Speaking about the case, the mayor said it had caused widespread concern across London's communities and appealed for public cooperation.
“I want to reassure Londoners that a suspect has been arrested and charged with murder in the Kirandeep Kaur case, which has caused real concern among London’s communities,” Khan said.

He added that he remained in close contact with the Metropolitan Police and urged anyone with information to contact police or provide details anonymously through Crimestoppers.
Kaur had initially travelled to the UK on a student visa before later obtaining a work permit. Her family in India has appealed for justice and sought assistance in repatriating her body. The killing has also drawn attention within the Indian community in the UK.
