Surendra Adhana re-elected to UN Advisory Committee

Adhana played key roles in defense, trade, and energy diplomacy.

Senior Indian diplomat Surendra Adhana has been re-elected to the United Nations Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions (ACABQ) for the 2024–2026 term.

A career diplomat with postings in Moscow and Houston, Adhana was part of the core team in MOscow that negotiated key agreements spanning trade, technology, defense, nuclear energy, space cooperation, and disaster management. He also played a key role in coordinating high-level Indian visits to G20 and BRICS summits.

During his time in Houston, Adhana worked closely with the business community, universities, industry leaders, and the 500,000-strong Indian diaspora. He helped drive India–Texas bilateral trade to over $10 billion.

Adhana’s experience extends to domestic administration as well. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he headed India’s largest passport office in Delhi, overseeing the processing of over one million passport applications.
