Sikh mental health summit set for Dec. 6

The virtual event will gather Sikh community members and experts for discussions on mental health and wellness.

The first-ever Sikh Mental Health Summit in the United States will take place online on Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST, bringing together community members, mental health professionals and advocates for a full day of discussions on mental wellness within the Sikh community.

According to the Sikh Coalition, which announced the details on X, the summit marks “the first-ever Sikh Mental Health Summit in the US.” The organization said it will be “a day of learning, healing, and community” centered on culturally responsive care. The post emphasized the focus on mental wellness, but the coalition did not provide further program details.

The event is free and fully virtual, allowing participants to join from anywhere. Organizers described it as an opportunity for attendees to explore key issues connected to mental health in the Sikh community.

Speakers include Dr. Rucha Kaur, managing director of education and community development at the Sikh Coalition. Her participation is featured in event materials shared by the organizers.

The summit is co-founded by Dr. Poojajeet Khaira and Dr. Avneet Soin.. Event organizers have said the sessions are open to all participants and will be conducted in English.

Information released by the summit team notes that the event does not require attendees to be Sikh or to work in the mental health field. Registration is available through the summit’s sign-up link.
