Jaskaran Saroye / Surrey Police Service
Surrey Police arrested a 27-year-old Sikh man, Jaskaran Saroye, on charges of reckless firearms discharge after an alleged targeted shooting incident in Surrey, Canada, SPS announced May 7.
On April 13, SPS Frontline officers responded to calls of shots fired in the area of 94A Avenue and 127 Street. Police confirmed damage to the residence and noted that although the residence was occupied at the time of the shooting, nobody was injured.
The SPS investigation linked the incident to an ongoing spate of extortion-linked violence in the area, and the investigation was handed over to SPS’ Extortion Response Team. Officers identified a suspect vehicle and obtained a search warrant, leading to the arrest of Saroye.
Saroye has been charged with discharging a firearm into a place, knowing or being reckless as to whether someone was present.

“This arrest and charge reflect the determined work of our officers to hold those responsible for gun violence accountable,” Chief Constable Norm Lipinski said.
Lipinski continued, “Discharging a firearm into an occupied home is an extremely serious offense, and while we are thankful no one was physically harmed, incidents like this are profoundly dangerous and frightening for those affected. Our investigators will continue to pursue all individuals and networks involved in violent criminal activity.”
Surrey Police released Saroye’s photo to the public, stating it is necessary to assist with ongoing investigations, particularly into violent extortion activities. Police are encouraging anyone with information about Saroye or related criminal networks to come forward.
SPS, in its statement, also highlighted the Surrey Extortion Reward Fund of $250,000. Established in 2025, it offers individuals with key information the ability to collect a reward if charges and convictions of those responsible for these crimes are secured.
Jaskaran Saroye has been remanded in custody and is awaiting a bail hearing. The next scheduled court date is May 12, 2026.
