Penn State University has appointed Indian American geospatial specialist Siddharth Pandey to the Graduates of Earth and Mineral Sciences (GEMS) board of directors.

The appointment, effective for a three-year term beginning July 1, 2026, adds an industry voice with more than a decade of experience in location intelligence to the board that supports the GEMS Alumni Society’s programming, outreach, and networking initiatives.

He joins Quentin Lawson-Parchment as one of two new members on the 16-person board, which was created in 1994.

Pandey, a 2014 geography graduate, works as a location intelligence manager at Deloitte & Touche, guiding organizations in using geospatial data for strategic and operational decisions. His work spans environmental analysis, resource planning, and risk assessment—areas closely tied to the college’s academic mission.

Over the past decade, Pandey has earned multiple industry recognitions. He appeared on xyHt’s “40 Under 40” list in 2018 and Geospatial World’s “50 Rising Stars” in 2021. He was again highlighted by xyHt in 2022, received the Geospatial Professional Network’s Young Professional of the Year award the same year, and earned its leadership award in 2023. He currently serves on the GPN board and previously chaired its Vanguard Cabinet.

“This opportunity aligns perfectly with my passion for advancing the geospatial industry, supporting emerging professionals, and my dedication to fostering a vibrant and engaged alumni community,” Pandey said. “Joining the GEMS Board allows me to give back to the institution that played a pivotal role in my career and also enables me to contribute to the success and growth of current and future students in the field.”

His connection to Penn State runs through his early training in spatial analysis, which he credits for shaping his professional trajectory. At Deloitte, he has led projects that integrate GIS technology with business analytics to help organizations navigate environmental and resource challenges.

Council members advise on fundraising and alumni initiatives, but the GEMS board focuses on student support, mentorship, and professional pipelines.
