Indian American Rep. Ro Khanna announced that he will participate in a town hall in East Las Vegas focused on artificial intelligence, automation and their impact on workers.
The event, titled "Workers Over Machines: AI, Automation, & the American Dream," is scheduled for Aug. 19 in Las Vegas, according to an event flyer shared by Khanna on X.

In a post on the social media platform, Khanna framed the discussion around the role of artificial intelligence in the workplace and contrasted his position with that of large technology companies.
"Big Tech wants AI to boost their profits," Khanna wrote. "We want a worker-first agenda for AI."
Khanna also invited the public to attend the town hall, saying it would focus on artificial intelligence, automation and policies aimed at prioritizing workers.
"Join me in East Las Vegas for a town hall on AI, automation, and how to put human beings first," he wrote.
According to the event flyer, other scheduled speakers include Carlos Eduardo Espina, Tommy Blitsch, Jason Gateley, Maria Teresa Kumar, Joe Spica and Blanca Macias.
The event is being organized with participation from SEIU Local 1107, Teamsters Local 631, PLAN Action, Make the Road Action Nevada, Voto Latino and Culinary Workers Union Local 226. The flyer describes the discussion under the theme, "Workers Over Machines: AI, Automation, & the American Dream."
