“I was disappointed by the display of the Indian team in the second half in its game against England yesterday,” says Richard Charlesworth, one of the most celebrated hockey personalities in the world today.
He feels that had India repeated its first-half performance in the second half, the result could have been different.

Richard Charlesworth is here in his new role as a journalist and broadcaster. A parliamentarian, Olympic gold medallist, player and coach, a doctor by profession, and a cricket player by passion, he has been one of the greatest supporters of Indian hockey.
Though his offer to train Indian hockey back to its golden days was spurned by “dirty politics of Indian sports," he still remembers his days of his blunted Indian mission. He was never given charge of the Indian team and instead offered frivolous side assignments.
“I saw the 1995 Sikh movie," says Richard Charlesworth, "Rick," to his friends and admirers, “and it reminded me of KPS Gill. At that time in the 90s, I was in India and trying to work with the Indian hockey team.”
Rick interacted with members of Indian coaching squads as coaches of both men's and women's teams of India were in the Media Box, from where Rick was preparing his match report of the game between Australia and the Netherlands.
“They have been my friends in hockey. " A couple of them worked with me in China," says Rick while talking about his chit-chat with Indian coaches.
Rick, after spending some days in Amstelveen, is planning to move to Wavre in Belgium, where the Australian men's hockey team is playing.
