Calgary resident Rajinderpal Basran has been charged with arson with intent to defraud in connection with a fire that burned down his sports bar business.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police has been investigating a fire at Basran's 'Halftime Huddle' in Leader, a town about 240 kilometres southwest of Saskatoon. The fire was reported around 2:40 a.m. on Oct. 26.
The firefighters responded to the incident. However, the building had been burned to the ground by the time fire-fighters managed to subdue the fire.

As part of the investigation RCMP had collected video footage that showed a suspect arriving at the bar, breaking in and then leaving in a dark-coloured SUV.
After the fire, Basran told CBC that he was out of town at the time of the incident and claimed to not care about the financial part of it when asked whether the bar was insured.
RCMP announced that Basran is charged with one count of fraud over $5,000 and one count of arson with disregard for human life.
Basran is scheduled to appear in court in Leader on Mar. 19.
